And just like that, we are almost finished with November! Are you ready for Thanksgiving? Prepare yourself, because after the holiday, we continue full STEAM ahead into our FLL Qualifiers and FTC League Competitions. The best part of FIRST Washington are the volunteers – it’s how we are able to support all the kids throughout the season. As we ready for December’s competitions, we are still in need of volunteers for most locations. If you haven’t signed up yet or know somebody, please consider participating or letting others know about FIRST Washington. We cannot do it without you!
Thank you for everything you do and have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!
Building upon FIRST Washington’s values, we continually strive to ensure that, as a community, we are being mindful of our environment. One step we are taking to reduce our plastic water bottle waste created throughout the season, is providing a reusable water bottle as your Volunteer gift! Proudly use and refill it during the competition season and then use it wherever you go! These will be distributed at the same time as volunteer shirts, during your scheduled event.
#Hashtags & Tagging FIRST Washington
As a volunteer, you see the reach of FIRST Washington’s program, but we want everybody to see it! During this year’s competitions, if you take pictures you’d like to share, we would love it if you could tag FIRST Washington in your picture and include any or all of the following hashtags, including your event location (city, not event location) and program hashtag (i.e., #FLLAUBURN, #FTCRICHLAND, #FLLJrSnohomish, #FRCSEATTLE).
#FIRSTISSTEM
#FIRSTINEVERYSCHOOL
#STEMSQUAD

Volunteer Surveys
At FIRST Washington, we always try to ensure we are meeting the expectations of the competitions. Often times, the only way to know what needs improvement or what worked well is to hear from you. After each event, those who have volunteered will receive a survey. Please take 5 minutes to fill it out while information is still fresh from the event. This information is critical to assist FIRST Washington as an organization and we appreciate YOU!
Giving Tuesday – December 3 rd
On this day of national giving – nestled amidst the excitement of cyber-Monday and holiday celebrations – we invite you to pause and contemplate the good you can do right now to strengthen STEM/STEAM programs across Washington state.
Our fundraising goal for #GivingTuesday is $8,500.This year, nearly 7,000 students on 700 teams, 4th-8th grade will engage in FIRST Washington’s FIRST LEGO League program. And these funds allow us to celebrate the hard work each of these 7,000 young people have accomplished in giving them a City Shaper themed badge from FIRST Washington.
