Charged Up Coach Email Volume 19: Event Workshops, Quiet Rooms & Menstrual Equity
Greetings Coaches!
If you are new to this email this is the place where you will find all of the Pacific NW District specific FIRST Robotics Competition information. Coaches in the FIRST system for the current season will be added once teams are able to register for events. Every email from me will be numbered and that number lets you know which update it is, if you miss an update you can find it on our website.
Here is what I have for you today:
- Hosting a workshop at an FRC event in 2023
- Looking for Quiet room hosts
- Menstrual Equity at events in 2023
- FRC Event Briefing Feb 16
Hosting a workshop at an FRC event
Prior to COVID, we had several teams hosting workshops at our District events. We are hoping to be able to bring that back in 2023. Please keep in mind that not all events are able to support workshops but we will do our best to support workshops at every event we can.
To host a workshop, your teams needs to:
- Fill out this form by February 13th
- Attach a PowerPoint slide to the form with information on your workshop that I can share with coaches
I will reach out to our hosts and notify teams who have completed the above form if they are able to host a workshop.
Please do not contact the site directly. Our hosts are all trying to build their robot just like your team but have the added stress of also getting ready to host an event. The only way your team will be able to run a workshop is by filling out this form.
Looking for Quiet Room Hosts for our Events
Last year we were able to have quiet rooms at almost all of our events. These rooms have become an important part not only in the PNW culture but in all of FIRST! These rooms are only possible if a team steps up to be the host at each event. For all of the teams that hosted in prior years, THANK YOU!
If you are interested/willing to host a quiet room, fill out this form
Menstrual Equity at events in 2023
The Whidbey Island Wildcats, FRC 2980, would like to invite you to be a menstrual equity ambassador at one of your competitions. As an ambassador, you would place a refillable box in the female and gender neutral bathrooms and provide a care package to each team which includes a variety of menstrual products as well as other items necessary for women to succeed at competitions such as hair ties, bobby pins, and ear plugs. If you are interested, please complete this form so we can coordinate our efforts. Thank you.

Our next FRC Coaches Chat is scheduled for Thurs, Feb 17 at 7:00 pm
In general, because we know how busy you are building your robots, we do not have a January Coaches Chat.
The February Coaches Chat is very important. At this meeting, we go over all of the general event information for the entire season. If you are unable to attend, it is important that you have someone attend in your place. You are responsible not only to know this information, but to pass it along to whoever else needs to have it (mentors, parents, chaperones etc…) Please make sure you have an adult representative from your team on this call.
