Charged Up Coach Email Volume 3: 9-6-22 – Coaches Chat & Off Season Events
Greetings Coaches!
If you are new to this email this is the place where you will find all of the Pacific NW District specific FIRST Robotics Competition information. Coaches in the FIRST system for the current season will be added once teams are able to register for events. Every email from me will be numbered and that number lets you know which update it is, if you miss an update you can find it on our website.
Here is what I have for you today:
- Grant Dates
- PNW FRC Registration is open!
- FRC Coaches Chat Sept 22nd
- Off Season Event info:
Grants
Boeing Grant is Open – Any team with a Boeing Mentor
The Boeing grant opened earlier this month. In order to receive a Boeing sponsorship, a team must have a Boeing employee or retiree who commits to volunteering for the team at least 25 hours over the course of the season. Your Boeing Mentor will be able to go in and submit the grant for your team. The information we have is that the grant should remain open until September 30th which is much later than in prior years.
OSPI Grant is open – Washington public school teams only. Grant deadline Oct 3rd
The OSPI grant should open August 1st and will close on October 3rd. If you are a Washington public school, be sure to coordinate with the Administrator in your school who is responsible for filling out (or approving) the grant. We learned from OSPI that there were some schools who did not fully fill out the grant in the past few years and therefore were unable to be considered for funding. Be sure to answer all questions completely. Remember FIRST Washington grants show up on your invoice so you will not know what those grants are before the deadline but every team that registers with FIRSTWashington by the grant deadline who is interested in a grant will receive funding from FIRST Washington Donors.
PNW FRC Registration is open!
Our registration form (formerly the FIRST Washington Grant form) is now open. Any team planning to compete in the Pacific Northwest District needs to fill out our registration form. If you are interested in receiving a grant, you will need to complete the form prior to September 30. Here is the link to the registration form. Please fill it out early so you don’t forget! https://app.smartsheet.com/b/form/fef251a315a44f02ad73abc987b3f63b
First FRC Coaches chat 7:00 pm Thursday, Sept 22
We will be having our first FRC coaches chat at 7:00 pm on Thursday, Sept 22nd. On this chat we will:
- Go over the event preferencing process and what you’re home event is
- Go over a high level schedule for the season

This is a great way to keep up on important information and connect with other PNW Coaches. We do ask that each team try to have on adult attend.

Answers to some questions received from the PNW Block Party Interest Form:
· If we bring two robots will we have to share a pit or can we have an adjacent pit?
o ANSWER: We will only have 2nd robots if under 30 teams register. In that case, we would provide an adjacent pit. It is important to note that the opportunity to bring a 2nd robot/drive team is not guaranteed at this time.
· What is the food situation?
o ANSWER: We will aim to have some concessions available. There are also many restaurants nearby, such as in the Mill Creek town center a short drive away.
