Hello FRC Coaches, Mentors and Supporters,
I hope that you are all doing well during this time. I have 3 items for you today
- Save the date – Virtual showcase and Awards Ceremony April 17
- How is your team doing?
- Creating a community – Friends of FIRST WA and ORTOP Facebook Group
- Virtual Showcase Friday, April 17th, 12:00 – 1:00 pm!
Join us, next Friday, April 17th, noon-1 p.m. for FIRST Washington’s Virtual Showcase and Awards Ceremony! We want to celebrate all of you!! While we can’t be together in person, FIRST Washington is a community of over 15,000 students on nearly 1,200 teams supported by incredible coaches and mentors like you. We are stronger together by working together, so sign up today by clicking here. Parents should have seen an email from FIRST WA yesterday but please feel free to forward this to them to make sure they attend the celebration. Consider hosting a virtual table for your team, with simple instructions on the FAQ page, https://firstwa.org/changetheworld/.
I addition to sharing this, please upload a picture from this season for us to put in our slide show. We would love to have variety in our photos so get creative. It could be of an outreach event, or your team working together to prepare for competition, get creative!
It’s going to be a great event, celebrating our accomplishments together all while raising funds to support FIRST Washington’s programs and teams. It would be fantastic to have every team participate!
2. How is your team doing (What is your team doing?)
We have all been challenged by the events in the past 6 weeks. I have been reminded, however, of how resilient our teams/students are when I look at my Facebook page and see all of the wonderful things that FIRST teams are doing to support their local community. We are also trying to brainstorm ways we can keep our fantastic community connected and supporting each other. As we were brainstorming, we realized that we needed to reach out to our best resource…all of you! Please take a minute to fill out this survey to share with us how your team is doing, how we can better support you and help us figure out ways to keep our community connected during this time of social distancing.
I appreciate and miss all of you and look forward to when I can see you face to face again!
3. Creating a virtual community – Friends of FIRST WA & ORTOP Facebook group
We are working to connect everyone through a Facebook group. As a result, we have created Friends of FIRST Washington and ORTOP. This group is for all teams in all programs. We are hoping you will all use it as a way to connect, get to know your neighbors from other programs better as well as find a way to collaborate and support each other. The group is going public this week so please search Friends of Facebook and ORTOP, join the group, post and invite others (Mentors, students, parents etc…)
Take care and stay safe everyone!
