Power Play Coach Email Volume 1: 7/1/22 – Help with Control Hubs – even (or especially) if you are NOT participating in FTC
Greetings Coaches & Mentors!
If you are new to this email this is the place where you will find all of the Washington specific FIRST Tech Challenge information. Coaches in the FIRST system for the FREIGHT FRENZY season will be added weekly. Every email from me will be numbered and that number lets you know which update it is, if you miss an update you can find it on our website.
Here is what I have for you today:
- Help with Control Hubs even if (or especially if) you are not participating
- Participation next season
- Boeing Grant is open!
- Outreach Opportunity in Clark County
Help with Control Hubs even if (or especially if) you are not participating AND Let us know if you plan to return this season
I’m sure you have all received the emails from FIRST talking about the supply issue with the control hubs. In case you have not received communication from FIRST, Rev is experiencing a supply chain issue and as a result rookie teams will most likely not have access to control hubs this season. As a result, we are emailing current and past FTC teams to see if they have extra or un-used equipment that they would either be willing to donate to FIRST Washington or lend to a team in need. To let us know if you have equipment you are willing/able to donate/share. Please fill out this survey:

Participation Next Season
It helps us from a planning perspective to know how many teams plan to return next season. I know that COVID has impacted teams differently and that we had several teams take a year or two off because of a coach transition, fundraising challenges etc… Whether you competed last year or in a previous year, we would love to hear if you plan to return or if there is anything FIRST Washington can do to support your team through a challenge you are facing.
I realize that FIRST has also sent out a survey asking about teams plans for next season. Unfortunately we don’t have access to any of that information so it would really help us if you could fill our survey out even if you have already filled the FIRST survey out.
Survey (Note, this is the same survey as above: https://app.smartsheet.com/b/form/9dbd3a050f89448caf6bf82494bc093d
Boeing Grant is Open
The Boeing grant opened earlier this month. In order to receive a Boeing sponsorship, a team must have a Boeing employee or retiree who commits to volunteering for the team at least 25 hours over the course of the season. Your Boeing Mentor will be able to go in and submit the grant for your team. The information we have is that the grant should remain open until September 30th which is much later than in prior years.
Outreach Opportunity the first week of August
Hello PNW FRC and FTC teams! Clark County 4-H Robotics would like to invite you to participate in some robotics demonstrations at the Clark County Fair this coming August. We would like to invite up to 8 members to demonstrate this past year’s robot for a fun filled day at the fair. If you prefer, you may even choose to demonstrate a past year’s robot or one that’s fun to show off. Entry fees and parking will be covered for participants. The start time for demonstrations is 11:00 AM, and we encourage teams to send enough members to split into two shifts so that everyone can have some time for Fair fun! For more information, contact cc.4h.robotics.club@gmail.com or FRC teams can sign up directly at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C094DACA822A5F49-frcteam and FTC teams can sign up directly at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C094DACA822A5F49-ftcteam Team members from the CloverBots, BrainBots, and the rest of the 4-H teams are excited to get together with other PNW teams to show what FIRST and robotics is all about!
