Rapid React Coach Email Volume 4: 9-2-21 – Welcome to a new season!
If you are new to this email this is the place where you will find all of the Washington specific FIRST Robotics Competition information. Coaches in the FIRST system for the RAPID REACT season will be added once teams are able to register for events. Every email from me will be numbered and that number lets you know which update it is, if you miss an update you can find it on our website.

FIRST Washington Registration is Open
We have shifted gears a bit and changed our FIRST Washington Grant form to a FIRST Washington Registration form. We will still offer grants and there is a spot on the form where you can choose to be considered for a grant. It is important to capture certain demographic for all of our teams so we can continue to raise funds to support our teams as well as our programs which means we need all teams to fill out the registration form. This form will not close but to be considered for a grant, you must complete the form by October 29.
We currently have 5 teams planning to host off season events this fall and are hoping that all 5 will be able to happen! Below is the information we have for each event. If you have questions regarding a specific event, please reach out to the contact email provided by the event host.
1) PNW Block Party Sept 18 & 19:
The PNW Block Party will be a two-day FRC event held September 18th-19th at Henry M. Jackson High School in Mill Creek WA. We will be playing the 2021 FRC game INFINITE RECHARGE with the real FRC field. This is a great way to introduce new team members to FRC. Teams will have a pit with power, a full set of qualification matches, alliance selections, and playoffs. We will be using the 2021 INFINITE RECHARGE rules.
Registration is now OPEN and we have space for about 30 teams. We take registrations in the order that they’re received. The registration fee for the event will be $250. Teams can compete with a second robot for an additional $100. After the registration form is completed, we will be in contact with you to arrange payment.
We are also looking for volunteers! Volunteers will receive a FIRST official INFINITE RECHARGE volunteer T-shirt. If you’re interested in volunteering for this event, please sign up here.
At a minimum mask will be required. We are hopeful that this event will be able to take place, but it will ultimately depend on the state of COVID as well as CDC and school district guidelines/rules.

2) Wilsonville off Season event Oct 9: – New information!
Robot Rodeo – is a one-day event for the first 24 teams to sign up. It will be in the format of a District Qualifier on the real field, with scheduled matches and a playoff, to give teams the chance to roundup their robots and get their new drive team members familiar with the rhythm of a season event. The emphasis will be on getting every robot and drive team run time, so there will be plenty of help, patience and gracious professionalism available. Don’t worry if your drive team is new or your robot isn’t doing everything it was back in 2019. Get the straw out of that robot and come have some fun! In past years this has been a “Girls Gen” event, but this year in the spirit of helping all teams get “back in the saddle”, any and all drive team configurations are welcome. 2021 Infinite Recharge rules will apply.

3) Auburn off season event Oct 9 & 10: – New Information
Infinite Reboot Oct 9, 2021
TREAD 3219 would like to invite you to Infinite Reboot 2021. This off season FRC event will take place on October 9th, 2021 with early load in on Friday the 8th. We will run a “normal” event with 24 teams. Cost will be $200 per team and spaces will be reserved on a first come basis. Details on payment options will be coming soon, but you can reserve your spot by emailing Chris Zawislak at email@example.com *This event will be run based on current Covid Protocols and Policies and may be canceled or altered based on State and District directives.
4) Robot Rewind Oct 30:
“Robot Rewind” hosted by CHUCK Team 2147 is coming soon. The off-season event is a chance to play FIRST Infinite Recharge on the PNW District’s competition field. We do expect Robot Rewind to be competitive and FUN! This is a great training opportunity to get new team members involved early in the year, or another chance for your drivers to practice before the next season kicks off in January!
Where: West Valley High School -Spokane, WA- Centrally located within driving distance for teams in East/West Washington, Idaho, Montana, and maybe even Western Canada (“EH”).

5) Storm Surge Oct 30:
Come join the Skyview StormBots for StormSurge on October 30th. While it can be scary to try a new venue, we encourage you to bring your best costumes and candy to the north end of Vancouver, WA and graciously celebrate with us as we cooperatively compete together in Infinite Recharge!

Clarification on Volunteer Vaccination Status for Coaches & Mentors
For those of you who missed the communication I sent yesterday, you can read it here
I received a question this morning that made me realize my message to coaches could be interpreted multiple ways. We will be requiring coaches and mentors be vaccinated to attend events. We are not saying they have to be vaccinated to participate with the team. That decision is up to your organization and might be dictated by your school district, 4-H etc… depending on your affiliation.
