FLL Challenge – Bellevue Qualifier Sunday

December 15, 2024 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm PST

Hello FLL Teams and welcome from FRC Teams Robototes 2412 (Sammamish) and Ramen Robotics 9036 (Bellevue Big Picture),

If you are getting this mail, you are registered as a coach or assistant coach for an FLL team that is competing at the FLL Bellevue Qualifier on Sunday Dec 15th . Our teams are thrilled to be co-hosting your FLL Qualifier!

We are one week away from the event. Here are some quick logistics which may be particularly helpful for rookie coaches. 😊

Most Important

A coach from every team needs to submit a printed copy of a filled-in roster when checking in the day of the event (all green checkmarks, no red crosses!). Please email me if you have questions about rosters and I’ll do my best to help you.

General

  • Where: Highland Middle School, 15027 Bel-Red Rd, Bellevue, WA 98007
  • When: Sunday, Dec. 15th – 8:00 am (doors open at 8 am, not any earlier)
  • Event Venue Map and Judging Schedule are attached.
  • Event Schedule (This may change. You will get an updated schedule during the week, if it does).
Time  Activity
  8:00 AM  Team Check-in & Pits Open
  8:30 AM  Coach Meeting
9:00 AM  Judging Begins (All Judging is CLOSED to the public)
9:00 AM  Practice Begins (Open to the Public)
1:30 AM  Opening Ceremony (Open to the Public)
1:45 PM  Official Robot Rounds Begin (Open to the Public)
 ~4:00 PM  Robot Game Ends
4:30 PM  Closing Ceremony (Open to the Public)

  • Absolutely no entrance for teams before 8:00am. The volunteers have exactly one hour to set up before 8am and we will need every minute of it.
  • Every team has a pre-assigned pit table with the team number on it.
  • Please bring extension cords, power strips and gaffer tape. This is a typical middle school. The pits are in the Café. The power outlets are on the periphery, so you will all have to create a grid of power cables and will need to tape them down, so we don’t have accidents. In the spirit of Gracious Professionalism, we would like to suggest that teams bring a few more extension cords and power strips to help out teams that forget theirs. Please label all equipment with your team number so we can find the rightful owners in case they are left behind.

Practice Tables

We have a Practice Area where we would like to have 2 tables (this is dependent on teams volunteering to bring their equipment!). The practice area is near Pit Admin and there will be a signup sheet with time slots. Teams will be required to have coaches with them. We will have at least 2 volunteers overseeing the area, as well. We will take the utmost care to make sure that the mission models don’t get damaged, or acquire feet, fins or wings. Teams that are competing on Saturday, please consider lending your table, mat and mission model sets for both days to reduce setup issues. Please fill out the form below to help us figure out how many tables, mats and mission model sets will be available.

Food

It’s a long day and everyone will get hungry! You have the option of bringing your own food. For your convenience, Ramen Robotics will be running a concession stand (Coffee(!), Instant Noodles, Pizza Slices, Cookies, Chips, Protein Bars, Candy, Soda, Water and other food/beverage items – Items are $1 – $3). Whole Costco Pizzas are also available ($20), please preorder at this link and your pizza will be ready for pick up at lunch at the concession stand (Note: Make sure you select the correct day for your event!).

Absolutely no food or drink in the gym (the robot games will be there).

Feel free to reach out with questions regarding the venue and we look forward to seeing you!

Good luck and have fun,

-Laura Dooley, Robototes 2412 Coach

-Hillary MacDonald, Ramen Robotics 9036 Coach

The FIRST LEGO League Challenge for the SUBMERGED season invites teams of students (age 9-14) to use creative thinking and LEGO® technology to explore the layers of the ocean. FLL Challenge students will bring their creativity and problem-solving skills to the surface as they “sea” into the future.
